We really like the Wii Fit Plus games because they are very entertaining as we strive to beat each other's score. They do get you off the couch and have fun. The exercises (strength training and yoga) are good solid exercises using repetition that is needed. However, I don't feel that I've ever hit my target heart rate using the different games. The fact that I have to stop after each exercise and listen (read) the screen telling me tips, pushing the A button, and then seeing where I scored before it will allow me to move on really is too much rest time between exercises. If you are starting a fitness routine after not having one, this is a great step in the right direction. My sister got this for Christmas. I've used it several times but she's really busy so she hasn't tried it yet. I personally love it. I tend to hold my breath while doing stretches/exercises which is a bad thing when exercising. Anyways, the Yoga things and Games it has on the disc are wonderful. I used yoga to do heavy breathing and streching and I can already tell my posture is getting better by where the green dot is on the loading times. I'm amazed at how well my posture already improved. The mini games like Ski Slope and Hula Hoop and Soccer Ball headbutting are very fun. My favorite is the Ski Slope where you go down the big hill and then pop up to jump. I also loved the Lotus Focus minigame where you have to sit still while people creep up steps and bees buzz to try to throw you off focus. THe main thing is for your inner body to remain at peace so you can keep completely still. I mastered it. Haven't done all the Yoga and Strength exercises but the ones I did work pretty well and I can feel them working. Doesn't seem to burn much calories but I put in that I want to have a 24 BMI by next christmas, as I have a 28 BMI now and I am a little overweight. If I do it for 30 mins every other day I should be good to go. It keeps track of all the exercises you did. You can even have a routine saved if you want. There's a lot of reviews praising the Wii Fit Plus so I won't repeat them. What more can I say, I bought it as a surprise "from Santa" gift to my wife and daughter for Christmas. I figured it would be fun enough but I had no idea. A lot of it is certainly a challenge and so what if the feedback is accurate, if you don't do well, that's what you hear. 1) This was the hands-down winner for the favorite gift anyone in our family got this Christmas. My wife, my four kids and I all have enjoyed playing the various games in Wii Fit Plus. What an outstanding concept for a video game maker, to involve your whole body in game play! My one daughter has taken to the various yoga and stretching exercises, too, but it's the fun games that everyone is enjoying. It's motivating to me, too, to lose those extra holiday pounds I gained.

2) I wondered, before I bought Wii Fit Plus, whether it would operate on something other than a hard floor surface? I wanted to use it in our family room, which has a large, padded, floor rug in it. Happily, the Wii Fit Plus comes with a set of 4 feet attachments you can add to the Balance Board to raise the Balance Board and provide resistance to the Balance Board's feet. In other words, we *can* successfully use the Balance Board on our family room rug. It should work fine, too, on most carpeting, thanks to the feet attachments.

3) The Balance Board is white; my children's bare feet are generally dirty. The combination causes foot grime to quickly get ingrained into the Balance Board's white plastic surface. It's best, then, to wear socks, or wash your feet before using it, or buy one of the form-fitting covers for the Balance Board. That, or learn to live with foot grime on your Balance Board, or spend time burning extra calories trying to keep your Balance Board clean.

The game is great. There are many different things to choose from so you can always do something new. The excercises are so much harder to do when you are forced to keep your center of balance in the designated area (this is only in training mode; you don't have to worry about this in the mini-games).

I didn't find the wii to be negative or offensive at all when it classified me as overweight and set a goal for a lower bmi. The truth is, after having a child, yes I am heavier than I should be and I do need to lose a few pounds. The game was not negative or mean about it and the purpose of this game is to inform you of your current fitness status and help you improve it, hence the name: wii fit. The personal trainer in the training mode will always provide you with positive feedback while you are doing your excercises and speaks very gently. He/She may gently remind you when you are are leaning a certain way or give you tips on how to improve your form. I do not agree with the reviewer who found the game negative and offensive and I would encourage anyone who can handle reality to try this fun and effective game. This is an awesome piece of equipement and a great compliment to any wii setup. The board is a nice hardware and works really well at measuring, the setup is really easy and anyone that can read can set it up in a few minutes. With the board set obviously the first thing to do is try the game, as far as a "game" this has some basic looking but really fun classics like skateboarding, hula, boxing, running, balance games and some more fun stuff suitable mostly for the younglings in the house.
When we get down to the exercising business the Wii Fit Plus does a great job of measuring your body weight and CMI and between joke and joke with your Mii basically tell you you're fat, the exercises are great and the yoga part does a good job of telling you if you're doing the exercise properly something that has eluded me with any yoga dvd I've tried. When combining exercises between yoga and toning you really feel the set as fluid and balanced as any other from a professional gym but the only thing I'm missing is the ability to create a workout for the whole week since you can only personalize the exercises for the day. The instructions provided before each exercise are accurate and easy to follow, however if you've done the exercise before the instructions won't appear again which is a minor nuisance.
I do believe this has been a great addition to gaming and fitness in general and can help a gamer get off the couch and do some less serious but more fun stuff than killing zombies or nazis.

I use the Wii Fit everyday. It tracks my waistline, steps, weight, and bmi. My whole family, including pets have registered there stats on the way. My wife does occasional work-outs on the Wii, especially in cold weather. She also tracks her exercises not done on Wii. My son occasional works out on the Wii, when we rotate through the different games.

I really enjoy charting my progress. I had a little set back with the holidays, but I know exactly how much of a set back. It tracks my progress to my goals. The games are fun and entertaining.

I wish the Wii did a better job with BMI. I have more muscle mass on my body, but the Wii does not take this into its calculations. I also wish that the Wii would allow more side by side games. There should be two balance boards and we could work out as a couple.

We've had this game one day, and I'm enthralled. This game represents everything a fitness game should be. It's immediately engaging. It takes your Mii and puts it through a few tests using the balance board and some basic data such as your age and height. It then gives you a BMI (Body Mass Index) rating and fitness age based on your weight and test results. It then adjusts the look of your Mii based on the results. Few things are more motivating than seeing your chubby little Mii waddling around the TV screen. As an aside, I do deserve to have a chubby Mii, but the program states my ideal weight is 143lbs, which at 5'8" seems a little light. It would be nice if there were adjustments for frame type.

Now the activities. They are a blast. I played all day yesterday with my family and never noticed I was exercising, but today, when I got up on the balance board, I really felt my legs & hips. I've explored maybe a third of the activities, and there's a ton left to go. There are serious activities led by a trainer of your choice, and fun activities designed to be more like games. They work well together to get a serious workout without losing the sense of fun a video game should provide. As a martial artist, I especially liked the rhythm boxing and Kung Fu. There are also several head to head games available, and few things help you push past your limitations like competition.

Lastly, you can set goals that are tracked for you. You can also select predetermined exercise plans of multiple activities based on your fitness goals or design your own plan. My favorite feature here is the calorie goal planner that's based on common foods which makes it much easier to understand. We've read reviews that say "better than nothing" and we're not giving up our gym memberships, but we think this'll be a great way for our college athletes to keep in shape during vacations, and the desk workers in the group expect to be able to get a good workout on days when we only have 30 minutes.

I am 52 years old, chronically sick, and chubby, so that creates a setting into which this review was typed!

This program is wonderful! It was plug-and-play easy to set up, and within 15 minutes I was standing on the balance board in front of our TV, waiting to see what fun was in store...

And I did have fun! So much fun that before I realized it, a LOT of time had flown by! I was so interested, I had to try out everything; it seemed I couldn't stop. The yoga, the strength training, aerobics, and the training games were all fun, accessible for me (meaning they were short enough and plain enough-- explained and illustrated well.) I racked up quite a bit of time spent in honest exercising... so much so, that when I finally forced myself to shut the program down, I had a hard time getting up the stairs because I was so tired.

Of course, I was beginner-level at everything, but that was to be expected. For the fitter and healthier, there were more difficult challenges and options.

Get the gel sleeve for your balance board, and keep in mind that you'll use a nunchuk for several of the training games.

I have tried memberships to health clubs (SO hard to get to in the cold weather!) and video/DVD routines (SO boring after a while, and no interactive option)--

I am confident this program will be a steady part of my life.

I might remain chubby, sick, and older, but I will also be fitter and stronger, thanks to this program.

I highly recommend this program, especially to people like me who find, by reason of poor health, that they are stuck in a chair losing strength. We finally have at least one fun option to fight this decline!

I got this as an early Christmas gift and love it. I had played the Wii Fit at a friends house and the Wii Fit plus has so many games. It was so much more than I was expecting. I had heard so much about this game that I decided to get it for myself for Christmas. After a few years of too much sitting behind the computer and suffering a number of injuries the pounds have jumped on. So I thought gee maybe I'll use this more than my strider.
I began. First I built my character...fun...then comes the profile. It weighs you and you enter some data and it feeds you your BMI where upon a Bart Simpson knock off goes " You're OBESE". I'm thinking "NO Sh_T Sherlock, why do you think I bought this game?" Then it does a balance test.... " guess _____ is not your forte" comes on the screen. There was a reason I bought this game. Then it calculates my age 77. I repeated the profile. My weight was 3 lbs different than 2 minutes before. There was a different balance game...I'm still obese but I have improved ( How is that possible?)" and now I am 33...congratulations!!! So third time is the charm...still obese yet another weight and now I'm 53....

So defintely have to take the assessment with a grain of salt.

Next the games. I'm a little slow so it took me a while to figure some of them out. Alot of the games are fun. The obstacle course is great. It gives you a good workout as you ascend the levels. Others are purely frustrating. The balance board seems to respond to right left weight shift fairly well. Back front is another issue. Some of the hip tilting doesn't seem to respond or does so irratically. There is a run and jump game, sometimes the figure jumps when I bend and straighten my knees other times it doesn't. Maybe it takes practice.
At any rate I got so frustrated that I got my numchuck and wii sport, put on the boxing game and knocked the lights out of my opponent.
I would enjoy it more if there was a more positive message like" It takes time to learn, keep trying." or it gave me better instructions. I have to admit it is a bit addictive.
The yoga is fair. You have to keep choosing different poses so there is no flow....I will try the personalized routine soon. It may be better. Many of the strength exercises look like yoga.
Overall it is fun. Don't believe the weight and BMI, take the insults lightly and hope Nintendo will improve future games.

The major points of the review remain accurate. I did find a way thru the game where you can set up your personal workout. You can combine yoga and strength into the workout. It is a good feature. SOME EXERCISES USE THE BOARD AND OTHERS DON'T. During some of the non-board exercises the instructor is telling me "You are doing great, keep it up." There was no feedback possible and no way to know whether I was doing great or not. I found the same occurance in the Your Shapewith the webcam. During the Yoga the instructor told me I was doing great. I was sitting on the couch.(There are other good features of that system. Fodder for another review.)

I could easily do without my MII crumbling in humiliation when my score is low when I am just learning the game. In some this appears to be "revenge of the Nerds" by the programmers who conjured up these games. I have had innumerable coconuts and vases hit me in the head on my Rhythm Kung Fu screw-ups and turned into a snowball on the ski jump many times either when I took off too late or the board failed to register my take off.( Maybe it is from How to survive a Japanese Game Show)

I continue to wish there was better instruction on some of the games. The skiing balance game tells you to shift weigh and turn the skier. As a lifetime expert skier, I still can't make him consistently turn to the extent to catch all the gates and can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Clearly the board and controller are not as responsive as they could be.

Nonetheless this is first generation software and hardware and hopefully over time it will improve.( And I will improve.) These are great concepts and the possibilities are endless.

Nintendo really please 1.) Get a real certified Yoga Instructor to help you with Yoga.2) Give me accurate feedback and no commentary. You don't have to tell me to remember to brush my teeth before bed when I am working out at night 3.) If you aren't assessing my skill in an exercise, don't tell me I'm doing great.4.) Just give me the score, I don't need you to tell me I'm unbalanced...etc

Other than that many of the games are fun and give a great workout esp in the training plus.. The obstacle course is one of my favorites the advanced level gives an added dimension. The tilt your pelvis numbers games is great to sharpen mind-body integration and is fun as well. (To tilt your pelvis backward you actually have to stand on your toes.)
So buy it, have fun, blow off the insults and realize that it is a work in progress. There are enough games and exercises that there will be something that helps you get fit. It is also great for kids to develop and improve balance, focus and mind-body integration.
